Completely redesigned for 2017, the GMC Acadia is now more compact than before.

Completely redesigned for 2017, the GMC Acadia is now more compact than before. Formerly one of the largest midsize SUVs on the market, the 2017 GMC Acadia is now better aligned with what buyers expect from an SUV in this segment while remaining versatile and spacious.

The more tapered 2017 GMC Acadia is 18 centimeters shorter than the previous generation. Its width has decreased by 9.2 centimeters. It is also lower, facilitating access on board. The idea was to make the 2017 Acadia easier to get in and out of while making it more city driving-friendly.

The GMC Acadia has long been considered one of the most spacious midsize SUVs on the market. The more compact dimensions of the 2017 model haven’t changed that. It now offers 2,237 litres of total cargo space. Even with the rear seat in place, cargo space is still 1,180 litres. And with the optional third row in place, the 2017 GMC Acadia offers 362 litres of cargo space.

Available starting at $35,095, the 2017 Acadia comes standard with front-wheel drive with an all-wheel drive option.

Two Powerful yet Fuel-Efficient Engines Are Available in the 2017 GMC Acadia

The first is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine developing 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard. This engine is for buyers who have fuel economy at the top of their wish list, featuring an average fuel consumption rating of 11.2 litres per 100 kilometers in the city and 9.4 litres per 100 kilometers on the highway.

The other option is a 3.6-litre V6 engine that is available only with all-wheel drive. This engine offers 310 horsepower and 271 lb.-ft. of torque, and its average fuel consumption rating on the highway is 9.5 litres per 100 kilometers which is similar to the four-cylinder engine. The 2017 GMC Acadia has a maximum towing capacity of 5,200 pounds.

In terms of standard equipment, the 2017 GMC Acadia features a leather-wrapped steering wheel, room for seven passengers, stability control, Bluetooth connectivity, 4G LTE connectivity with OnStar support and Wi-Fi access, 17-inch wheels, LED daytime lights, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto technologies as well. There is also a rear-view camera and 8 airbags.
